Jose's Story...
Now happily settled in a Hyde Park Cats foster home, Jose loves to be stroked, petted and scratched under the chin. Even though he lived all his life on the streets, as far as we know, Jose is amazingly well-adjusted, friendly and serene. Although the sensation of sitting on a lap is clearly new to him, he is happy to try it out!

He likes to seek out quiet spots for long naps during the day, and is at his most active, friendly and engaged in the morning and evening. He purrs loudly and is quite talkative in general, with a very sweet, questioning "miaow?" He is very gentle and relaxed around his foster family's three kids. He has been fully vetted and is ready to find his forever family.

Jose is FIV+, and FIV+ cats can live long and healthy lives. Read more about FIV here:

If you have room in your home--and heart--for sweet Jose, we'd love to hear from you at !

He is being fostered in Chicago's Hyde Park.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jose, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
