Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Astro were his gorgeous eyes in the dim high-kill shelter light. She stared at Astro for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this gorgeous Norfolk/Cairn Terrier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter dust is an exceptional chestnut-colored Terrier.
Astro immediately makes it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Astro was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in our rescuer's lap. He was immediately so exuberant and clearly delighted with the turn his life had just taken! This 12 - 18 month old, approximately 15 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Astro wants desperately to be a family guy ...he would have the time of his life in a very active home with kids and a friendly, like-sized canine best friend.
We feel that Astro would do very well with either very active retirees who enjoy getting out on a long hike or even a run to fulfill the exercise needs of Astro's silly and fun Terrier personality. A dog-crazy younger family with kids would also be a great fit for Astro. He loves people of all ages and shows his devotion in very positive ways. Once Astro's exercise needs have been met...he's an all-time smuggler. He'd love nothing more at the end of the day than to cuddle up and show his devotion.
Astro would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people. We wouldn't want him to be left alone for long hours waiting for his family to arrive home in the evening.. 5 or so hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for an active and sensitive pup.
Astro is a non-shedding guy with a coat that will need periodic baths and brushing. He is not, however, suggested for those with severe allergy concerns.
Astro will arrive on transport in Denver on 10/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and silly Terrier, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
