My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lola!

1. What is your name?
My name is Lola. My foster parents call me Lola Belle, especially when I’m being flirty and sweet.

2. How old are you?
I was rescued as a 7 month old puppy. I’m now around 8 months old. We think my birthday is somewhere in March!

3. What do you look like?
I am a 50 lb pit bull with beautiful smokey, amber eyes! Some people call me a “blue fawn” pit bull, but I’m a little bit of a darker red than some other blue fawns. I’ve got long legs, which are perfect for running and jumping. I’m quite graceful! I have black around my eyes and my nose. My foster parents joke that I look like I’m wearing eyeliner!

4. What do you like to eat?
I’m not picky, but I do have some food allergies. If I don’t eat the right stuff, sometimes my skin gets itchy and breaks out. My foster parents have been feeding me yummy dry dog food with fish ingredients. I know anchovies are icky to some people; but I love it! When I switched to a new food, my foster parents gave me some pumpkin to help my stomach. Now, I LOVE pumpkin. It’s like a treat to me!

5. What kind of personality do you have?
I’m funny, energetic, and love being around people. I love to play, but also love cuddling. One of my nicknames is “cuddle bug”! I play hard, but then sleep hard! I’m silly; sometimes I’ll just collapse on my foster mom’s lap like I don’t know how to gradually sit down.

6. Describe your perfect day
My perfect day includes lots of playing outside! I love to play fetch; sometimes I’ll even play fetch by myself by throwing a toy and chasing after it! I like playing soccer with my foster mom; she’ll kick the ball and I chase after it as fast as I can! After playing outside, I’d love to come back inside and chew on a bone or kong toy.

7. What is your favorite toy?
I love anything chewy! My foster parents have lots of chewy toys, like kong toys, to keep me occupied. I love playing with a braided tug-of-war rope with my brother, too. When I play tug-of-war, I do this really funny thing where I jerk my body like I’m being electrocuted. It always makes my foster parents laugh. Sometimes I make messes by tearing the stuffing out of soft toys, so I usually do better with rubber-like toys!

8. Do you know any tricks?
Does being adorable count as a trick? Well, either way, I can also sit and I’m learning to stay. My foster parents are teaching me to respect the front door by sitting nicely in the living room when a visitor comes or when someone knocks on the door!

9. What scares you?
Inside of my home, I’m not afraid of anything! Sometimes, especially when I’m outside, weird noises or people confuse me. I’m a little bit skiddish when I’m on my leash, but I’m working on that. The only time I’ve ever hidden was when I took a bone and hid under the table to eat it in peace!

10. Do you like cats?
The home I was in before I came to my foster home said I did well with cats! I’ve never encountered a cat while I was with my foster parents, but my old mom said I was fine with them.

11. Do you have any doggie best friends?
My foster brother is my best friend in the whole world! I think he’s really cool. When my foster parents get home and let my foster brother out of his room, he always runs straight to my kennel to say hi! I love playing with him and following him around the house. We play tug-of-war, play wrestle, and run together. Sometimes he wants his own space away from his little sister, and I’m learning to give him that space.

12. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d love to be anywhere with some space outside. I’m happiest when I’m running through the leaves, chasing squirrels, and with my people.

13. How is your health?
I’m in great health! When I first came to my foster parents, I had some stomach problems and itchy skin, but since I changed my food, I’ve been doing great. I was spayed in October and recovered very well from that.

14. How long have you lived in your foster home?
I moved into my foster home at the end of September.

14. Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I share a home with my foster parents and their 3 year old doggy son, Sully. I really like being in a home with people and another dog! The more the merrier!

15. Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
My foster parents work during the day, so when I’m home alone, I go in my kennel. All my foster mom has to say is “kennel time!” and I know where to go. Sometimes I ask for a treat for being so good about it! When my foster parents leave, I’m sad for a few minutes, but then I’m okay because I’ve learned they’ll always come back.

17. Where do you sleep?
I sleep in my crate or in my foster mom’s bed. I prefer sleeping in bed, but when my foster parents make my crate really comfy with blankets, I don’t mind going in there! At first, I had a hard time sleeping through the night and always wanted to go outside to potty. Now, I can go through the entire night (plus some!) without ever going outside.

18. What do you love about your foster family?
I love that they give me attention and that they have protected me from going to a shelter. I love that they are consistent and have taught me how to live on a schedule. I’ve learned when to sleep, when to go outside to potty, and when I’m allowed to eat! I also love that they give me time to play with my brother, but also closely monitor our play time so I don’t get too silly with him.

19. What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
Even Chance rescued me from a woman who had fallen on hard times. She told my foster parents some things about the first seven months of my life. From birth to 3 months old, I lived with a man who might not have cared about me a lot. I’m lucky that I don’t live with him anymore. After that, I lived with a woman, her friends, and some of her friends’ children. The woman loved me a lot, but couldn’t take care of my food and routine medical care anymore. Even Chance took me in so that I didn’t have to go to a shelter!

If you would like more information on Lola or would like to set up a meet and greet, please fill out an adoption application here: http://evenchance.org/adopt/how-to-adopt/, and we will contact you.

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they grow up. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
