Mandy's Story...
Mandy came from a shelter with a very high euthanasia rate in Chattanooga TN. She is 5 years old – just the right age – out of puppyhood, calm and settled! She is 40-45 lbs, Fully vetted (spayed, dhlpp, rabies, bordatella, heartworm and fecal tested negative) and ready for adoption. House, leash and crate trained – she is one smart girl. Afraid of storms but NOT destructive.

Rides well in thge car but does not particularly like to ride – maybe because one of those car rides landed her in “the slammer”? She copuld learn easily that rides bring her to fun places and then she wouldn't mind so much. She is good with kids & most others doggies Not sure about cats. Needs a fenced yard. Shy but friendly & Sweet – she just has to realize you are one of the “good guys”.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mandy, a Portsmouth Schnauzer (Standard) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Standard) for sale in Portsmouth, or seeking a Schnauzer (Standard) dog from a breeder in Portsmouth.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portsmouth already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portsmouth breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Standard) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Standard) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portsmouth paves the way for another one to be saved.
