Dulce's Story...
Dulce is a three-year-old shih tzu mix looking for his forever family! He is a calm, cuddly little guy who loves to sit on laps and is rumored to be half stuffed animal. Has done well in small dog play groups, and is working on his house training. Prospective adopters should be aware that he has displayed tendencies towards aggressive resource guarding, so anyone who takes him home will have to be prepared to work on this with him, perhaps with a certified training. Because of this, Dulce would do best in a home without children. If you think Dulce could be the right addition to your family, stop by the adoption center at 3rd and Poplar for a visit!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dulce, a Philadelphia Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
