Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A special Beagle boy seeking a special home!
Meet Ritter, a very handsome, 4 year old, 36 pound male, Lemon Beagle who has finished his heartworm treatment and is taking the next step in his new life, a forever home.
Ritter is a special boy because of what he’s been through. Unfortunately he spent many, many months in a shelter before becoming a Midwest BREW Beagle. Ritter has some issues so he is looking for a very special home.
Because of spending so much time in the shelter, Ritter developed some fear issues. I have been working with him and he continues to improve every day. He does have a weak bladder, so getting him out regularly is important.
Ritter is house trained, as long as you get him out when he asks. He is crate trained, walks well on a leash, is good with other dogs and loves cats. Ritter also rides very well in the car. He is very gentle, but when he tells you he has to go out, you’d better get him out. He becomes really obnoxious, but that’s ok. Ritter loves to sit close on the couch with me and unfortunately does have some separation anxiety. Ritter does have a good set of lungs, so I don’t recommend him for an apartment or condo.
So for his forever home:
A single person or empty nesters with the time to spend with him to continue the training I’ve started.
A medium crate
Even though he is good with other dogs, I think a home with as little commotion as possible would be good for him. One where he can be king.
Fenced yard is nice, but I think taking him for good long walks would be more beneficial.
This is a dog with so much to give. He’s sweet and gentle, full of love. If you think you can look the other way regarding his fear issues but continue to work with him -which I do believe in time will go away- and can give him the kind of home he really deserves, then you need to meet this boy. He is ready and waiting for you to come and take him to his throne.
Check his webpage regularly to see which adoption event Ritter will be attending. He’ll be watching for you.
