My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LINCOLN is a 5 year old neutered yellow male Lab who weighs 80 pounds. He walks well on an Easy Walk Harness and also does well with his regular collar and leash. He looks forward to his daily walks at a distance of 1.5 to 3.5 miles. He is very pleasant and easy to walk and does well passing other dogs and people. He loves to play tug of war and also loves tennis balls but chews them up in about 10 minutes so he cannot be left alone with them. He loves the large dog Nylabones and will chew for at least an hour each day. He currently lives with a 2.5 year old 80 lb. female chocolate lab who he tolerates but would love to be the only dog getting all the love. He loves being outside when his people are out with him. He also loves having a bath out in the warm sun and is very cooperative standing still and enjoying this time. He has some normal itchy skin that labs have so he is fed a non-prescription allergenic dog food for sensitive skin and stomach. He loves to share apples when his people eat them. He also loves raw broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and small leaves of cabbage. Franklin knows how to sit, stay, and come with treats. He is very food motivated. He also loves to ride in the car and is a very good traveler. Franklin would do very well with a family that can give him lots of love and he will give much devotion in return. He was given up because his family decided a 2 dog household was more than they could handle. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (2/28): Lincoln would love to go for long walks with a family member now that Spring is around the corner. Lincoln is an awesome dog, super loving, friendly, playful, and sweet. He loves his people. He's fine around other dogs, but he just wants the attention of his people. He will chase cats, so not approved for them. Foster parents say that Lincoln is gorgeous, a true companion, and a snuggler

Update (01/14): Lincoln is a super sweet guy that loves to be around his foster family. He loves his walks and has gotten much better on the lead although an easy walk harness would be advisable as he gets a little excited if he sees another excited dog. Lincoln is house and crate trained although we haven't crated him since the first day and have left him up to 5 hours with no problem. Although he can get along with other dogs, we think Lincoln would do best in a calm environment where he was the only dog. We have had several people visit or stay with us while he has been here and he has done great with all of them. He loves the extra attention more people offer. He will twirl in a circle when you pet him and just talk up a storm. Then he flops on his back and relaxes while you give him belly rubs. He rides great in the car and will either sleep or look out the window and watch the world go by. We think he would do best with someone that has a quiet home life and is home more often than not. He gets two good walks a day and that seems to help keep him calm in the house. He has a great personality and will show it more and more as you get to know him. He will make a great companion for anybody who has the time and patience to get to know him.

Update (12/07): Lincoln is a great house guest. He loves being outside and having the ball thrown for him. He is quite the talker, when you rub him or pet him in a way he likes he will start talking, it's a sight to see. He is a good boy and likes being right with his humans. He would definitely need to go to a calm household where he has a yard to play in. He has lots of energy and likes to play although he is fairly calm in the house. We have left him up to 6 hours with no problem and haven't crated him since we got him. He has done well with all the dogs he has met and is a good walker but benefits from the easy walk leash. This is one super sweet pup who will make a great companion to some lucky family.

Update (11/17): Lincoln has settled in nicely to his foster's routine, and he is house trained and has been crated for a few hours at a time with little fuss. Lincoln thinks retrieving is great, but he isn't sure about returning it! He also enjoys car rides and going for walks. He pulls some but not excessively and would benefit from an easy walk harness. He is a sweet guy who just wants to please you. He loves attention and will spin in circles and flop on his back for belly rubs every chance he gets. He is friendly with other dogs and likes to say hi to everyone he meets. He likes to be around his people and loves to play in the yard, especially if you're up for a good game of tug of war. Lincoln is very sweet and friendly. He is a lovely boy who enjoys being outdoors and who is very interested in his surroundings. Lincoln tested really well with other dogs at the shelter.
