found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
Fritz is a blend of two very active, highly intelligent, and easily trainable breeds: the lively, water-loving Portuguese Water Dog, and the somewhat more versatile, German Wirehaired Pointer with keen nose and tracking, pointing, and retrieving skills on both land and water. Certainly worthy of a second glance when Fritz represents the two breeds being mixed. Animated, loyal, spirited, alert, curious, affectionate, and keenly aware, he’s quick to learn and understand instructions. Serious-minded and work-oriented, he likes to be busy, particularly if it means he’s pleasing his people. Robust and energetic with great stamina, this canine needs plenty of daily mental stimulation and physical activity if he’s expected to be a calm, well-mannered housedog; without having his exercise needs satisfied, he’s likely to become high-strung and/or willful. While training him isn’t going to be difficult, this extremely intelligent, high-functioning canine needs structure and strong leadership, and he needs to know his owners are stronger-minded than himself. Bear in mind though, Fritz is extremely sensitive to tone, so it’s important that his family members understand how to communicate their authority calmly, consistently, and never in a harsh manner. An outstanding family companion and great all-around dog, this willing and eager to please, genuinely sincere, and faithfully devoted dog is looking for responsible, caring owners to welcome him home as a cherished family pet.
Fritz is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with an active lifestyle. As with all of our adoptable pets, we recommend a meet-n-greet with any housemate dogs prior to adoption. Direct interaction with cats is unknown and cannot be assessed at the shelter at this time.
Fritz currently resides at the Monroe County Animal Shelter. The shelter is located at 911 South Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI 48161.
