My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Buddy C and my original owners were selling me from their vehicle on the mean streets of Memphis. It was scary and I didn't understand, because I have always been a good boy. Then, I saw this nice lady walk up. And before I knew what was happening, I was riding home with her.

I have all my shots and I am neutered. I am heartworm negative and on preventives for those nasty things and I get flea preventives too. Momma Jo is the BEST foster EVAH. My coat is short and sleek. I am white with tan markings (see my pictures?) and I weigh about 14 lbs. I am not too big...I am not too small...I am JUST RIGHT. And I have perfect house manners.

Now, my favorite thing in the whole world, besides loving on my foster mom and hanging with Jake and Annie (Momma Jo's other two JRTs...she likes JRTs you see. That is why she came to my rescue.) is playing BALL. My friend, Miss Julie, says I would be an AWESOME agility dog. I don't know what that is, but if it involves BALLS...I am all for it.

Don't get the wrong impression...I am NOT hyper...I love to hang out in my person's lap and sleep in the bed (under the covers, thank you very much). But I do love to play ball and chase it and any kind of game involving me running after the ball. I also could probably catch a frisbee, if SOMEONE would just toss me one.

OH...and I get along well with other doggies, especially other JRTs. I like children who have good doggy manners. And I don't know if I like cats or not....but I am going to chase other critters for sure....I am a terrier after all.

If you love classic Jack Russell Terriers, are willing to let me love you and hang out with you, and play ball with me regularly, I am your dog!

The ideal home for this Real Good Dog will have a secure fenced yard. A solid history of excellent vet care for current or previous pets is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have specific breed experience.

Please visit www.realgoodrescue.com to submit an electronic application if you are interested in adopting this or any other Real Good Dog.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
