FROM THE FOSTERS Becky says: November 23, 2014 at 4:04 pm: - Daphne is being fostered with me here in WNY and has been here for 4 weeks. She is the most lovable little girl around. She basically just wants to be held all the time. She loves to sleep in my lap or sometimes she gets in the chair behind me and goes to sleep. She craves human touch. She has become fast friends with my 2 yr old houla/aussie mix and they just love each other. Daphne wasn't sure how to play when I first got her but my Callie was persistent in teaching her what to do with a ball and a squeaky toy and a Pepsi bottle. They play constantly now. Daphne knows sit, down, crate, wait and leave it. She is very food motivated so she is easy to train. She has a ton of energy but my Callie helps to wear her out. Daphne loves to ride in the car with her head hanging out the window which is a huge step for her as she wouldn't even get into my car when I first picked her up. She walks good on a leash, she loves going to dogie daycare and the dog park where she runs like she has never been able to run before. The girls at daycare quickly fell in love with her and they said she just loves everybody, both canine and human. She is house trained but doesn't know how to let you know she needs to go out so we just keep her on a schedule and it is working out fine. She doesn’t seem to mind cats as the people downstairs have cats and she shows no interest in them when they are in the windows. She does well with kids but I have not had her around kids under 7. She is fine with both men and women. She will make somebody a very lovable and faithful family member.

Becky says: November 12, 2014 at 8:28 pm Daphne is my new foster girl here in WNY. She is just the sweetest little girl and so very beautiful. She loves to be loved. She would kiss your face all day if you let her. She is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, good on a tie out and is great in the car. She loves to go to the dog park and run like crazy with whoever will run with her. She was fast friends with my 2 yr old hula/aussie and they both love to be outside. They love to play so my house is like romper room when I am home. Although they do play hard, they both settle down when asked. Daphne goes to daycare once a week and has become a fast favorite of the girls there. They say she is an awesome little girl who gets along with everybody. She loves my landlords 10 yr old and also my neighbors’ pre-teen daughters and husband. She seems to love everybody and anybody. Daphne is a smart little girl and is food motivated so will be easy to train. She knows ‘sit’ and ‘crate’ and is getting pretty good at ‘down’ and ‘leave it’ and ‘wait’. I am amazed at how quickly she is learning things. She is still a puppy so lots of chew toys are a necessity to keep the house in one piece. She knows where the toy basket is and only takes things from there. When she is in the car she stays in the back seat and when her head is not hanging out the window, it is resting on one of my shoulders. She is a good girl and will make the right person/family very happy one day. I am so glad someone seen the potential in her and pulled her from an uncertain future.

Stacie says: October 16, 2014 at 2:09 pm Daphne was originally a foster in my home for two months before moving to her current foster home. In my home she was around cats with no issues She has also taken a few car rides with me (less than an hour in length) and either rode in my lap or in the back seat where she could look out of the window. Daphne was such a sweet and well-mannered lady in my house, the only reason she went to a new foster was so that I could pull a PItt Bull foster into my home. My family still misses sweet Daphne. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt this girl is getting a true sweetheart!

Daphanie is a 35lb spayed female Catahoula cur. She is approximately 9 months old. She was picked up down south inside the city limits of Winnsboro, Louisiana by animal control. A group of volunteers from Patrick's Pal's (our partners down south) noticed the beauty and potential in this sweet girl; they decided to pull her from city pens this past July. At first she was so scared, the animal control officer could not get her to come out of her kennel. However, with a little love and patience the volunteers were able to convince her; she has grown more and more confident each day under the loving care of her southern foster! She was a bit underweight when she came into rescue, but is now at an ideal weight. She is in excellent health, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.

Daphanie loves other dogs of all ages and sizes! She has a moderate to high activity level and is very social. Her play style is fast and hard. She currently lives with 6 other dogs in her foster home. Her foster mom says the other dogs embrace her zest for life, and enjoy playing with her. Although extremely active she will easily settle down once playtime is over and will curl up with the other dogs for a nap. She also enjoys the company of human affection as well. She did excellent with her foster mother's granddaughters, ages 6 and up, when they came for the weekend. This precious girl even sits on command and catches her treats in the air. She absolutely loves to be outside and is currently in a home environment where she can do this as she pleases. She sleeps loose inside the house at night and she is fully housetrained. Her behavior inside a crate is unknown. Her behavior with cats at this time is also unknown. She has not had an experience riding in the car at this point in time. Daphanie does well on leash. She has showed no signs of food aggression and has no apparent fears.

Daphanie's ideal home would be an active family with other dogs, to match her high activity level. She would also do well in a home with children. Although not a necessity, a fenced in yard would be nice, so she could continue embracing her love of the outdoors. She would love to go on hikes or long walks where she could take in all the sights and sounds while getting the exercise she needs. Catahoula's are an extremely active and intelligent breed; it would be much to her benefit and her new owners if they could continue with her training and teaching her commands. It is a known fact that training strengthens the bond between and owner and dog and also helps the dog feel confident and secure.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

ALL interested adopters MUST complete an application; agree to a vet reference check, phone interview and home visit. ALL family members MUST be in attendance for home visits - no exceptions. This helps us get to know everyone in the family so that we can help find the right dog for you.
