Facts about Josh

  • Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix
  • Color: White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Joshua was at the county shelter, emaciated, healing from a mildly imbedded collar, deaf, and on the euthanasia list. He needed time and he needed a chance at life, and that's where we came in...

Josh is a wonderful boy! He enjoys a fence to explore in or daily walks...and LOVES a good car ride! He gets along well with people of all ages, cats, and other non-aggressive dogs. He is house broken and kennel trained, but prefers roaming the house freely over being crated. He is a joy to be around and loves attention from his person. Just a great boy!!! And he is ready to share that love with some lucky family.

Josh requires a home visit and donation of any amount for adoption. He is also available for a foster-to-adopt trial period to an approved home (to be sure he's a good fit for your family). Josh has been neutered, vaccinated (including rabies and bordetella), micro chipped, and dewormed. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea prevention as well.

Please call 864-327-7772 or email hoovesandpaws@live.com for more information.

Thank you! And remember...Spay, Neuter, Foster, Adopt, Donate, Network...and don't forget to love your pets!!!

About Hooves & Paws of the Upstate Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

THE SHORT:

We are a two-fold animal ministry...a registered nonprofit rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming ministry dedicated to providing a place of healing for the sweet souls God places in our path, and a for profit caregiving (pet sitting) service committed to providing compassionate care for your furry family in the comfort of your home or farm...compassionate care when you're not there!

THE LONGER VERSION:

A little about the chick who started this thing called Hooves & Paws...

Keila Adams started Hooves & Paws of the Upstate because of her love for horses and her desire to provide not just pet sitting services, but a compassionate ministry to the animals and their families that God places in her path.

She has been a professional caregiver for horses in Greenville County since March of 2007, and has been a pet caregiver most of her life. Keila is an active rescuer for Greenville County Animal Care Services, a caretaker for a feral cat colony in Fountain Inn, and the primary caregiver for Hooves & Paws of the Upstate...as a paid caregiver in your homes, and as a volunteer caregiver in the Hooves & Paws Rescue Ministry. Keila has three dogs and a cat of her own and many others just passing through on the way to their forever families, and all came to her home as rescues. Keila has a special passion for helping animals and people who have been abused, neglected, or otherwise forgotten by society, believing that all of God's creation deserves love and care. It is the goal of Hooves & Paws to provide a place of healing for rescued animals and a bridge to their new forever homes.

Keila also has a passion for coming along side those who have a heart for their pets, but need assistance providing proper care. We are not here to judge, but to lend a helping hand. That is what God expects of each of us.

We are glad you've joined us! Pull up a seat and stay a while. Find the furry love of your life! If your house is full, just pass it on...and God bless!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a public shelter, but we offer several ways for you to meet our furries and to join us in what we do:

MEETING THE GANG...

We are often out around town on Saturdays, so watch our calendar for special adoption events and supply drives. Tractor Supply in Mauldin is our favorite gathering place. During the sunny season, we try to get involved in local festivals...please feel free to give us a head's up if you know of any in your area. I'm always open to scheduling a play date at the local dog parks as well, and this has been an extra fun way to interact with our babies and to bring yours along for some "neutral territory" trial runs if you are thinking of adopting! :) Of course, if you are interested in adopting, a home visit with the adoptable of choice is part of the adoption process, and I am always open to trial foster periods to be sure your choice is the best fit.

VOLUNTEERING...

We are in the process of moving and currently have most of our animals at a gracious friend's property where I go daily to provide care. Though volunteer opportunities at this location must obviously be limited for privacy, there are other ways to help out and get involved. I prefer to offer the event volunteer slots to teenagers in need of community service. If you would like to be added to an email listing for this, please make that request to hoovesandpaws@live.com. You can also watch our facebook page and website for other ways to help out.

One day, our ministry will be completely open to the public, and it will reach far beyond the animals we already bridge the gap to save. Stay tuned...

Our Adoption Process...

All of our dogs and cats are adopted out fully vetted: spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped, fecal tested, negative heartworm tested (in dogs over six months of age), negative FELV/FIV combo test (in cats), dewormed, and on heartworm and flea prevention.

Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference, home visit, and minimum donation (of $75 for all puppies/dogs and $45 for all kittens/cats). Cat adoption fees are often waived in favor of a "you name it" donation amount, so watch for those specials. Our costs far exceed even the $75, so donations above the minimum are appreciated but never required. Loving forever homes for the animals God sends our way is my main concern. He will take care of the rest! :)
