Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Laszlo
Breed: Husky / Mix
Age: Senior
Coat Length: Medium
Gender: Male
Size when grown: Large
Weight: 50 lbs.
Level of blindness: Total
General health: The vet thought that Laszlo might be able to see shadows but upon testing, realized he could not. His left eye had an injury at some point that was never treated so he has a slight scar in his lower eye lid. So he has one beautiful blue Husky eye and another beautiful, but scarred white eye. The vet said he is not experiencing any pain in the damaged eye. We do not know how he acquired his blindness aside from the injury. Aside from having some slight arthritis, his health is great.
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with kids: Other (Unknown at this point)
Good with cats: No
Information
Laszlo is a very sweet senior gentleman. He is very friendly and affectionate. We are working on some manners training as he does like to jump up when food is around. He lives with all dogs that are smaller than him and aside from bumping into them occasionally, he leaves them alone. He is living with a cat right now but I do not recommend him to a home with cats. He is very curious about the cat but seems to get obsessed with the cat at times which causes him to get scratched! He has never tried to chase or bite the cat but he is never alone with him either. Laszlo has learned the layout of the house fairly quickly and can make his way around the house fairly easily. At times he may get stuck in a corner, but he will start barking and let you know he needs help getting out. Laszlo loves to cuddle and will curl up on your lap if you let him on the sofa or sit on the floor with him. He does sleep a lot, but seniors do that. He walks very well on a leash and has learned the words "step" and "watch" so when we have a porch to approach and I say "step" he knows what's coming.
The biggest challenges, which really aren't that challenging, are the cat, and just him getting used to coming in and out of the house. It took him a few days to feel comfortable with the doors and the yard but now he knows the layout and is quite comfortable. He does not like going into the crate, and fusses a bit when going in, but then he will settle in and snooze. Eventually I think he may not need being crated when alone if he is kept in a room that is safe: meaning nothing he can bump into and hurt himself on. He does not have any chewing issues, which is a big plus as far as I'm concerned! Laszlo is a truly wonderful fluffy, snuggly companion who is easy going and easy to take care of.
