My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mae, a 1.5 year old, 14 lb. Peke-A-Pom - which is a Pekingese/Pomeranian mix. Mae was purchased as a puppy by a young woman who didn't think ahead about her ability to care for a dog - not to mention 2 dogs (see Harlow, her best friend). They were kept in a crate pretty much all day other than for potty breaks and some infrequent play times. At least her previous owner wanted something better than she could provide for Mae and Harlow, so we decided to help her out.

We're told that both Mae & Harlow are affectionate and playful dogs, although they have some pent up energy from being confined too long. A good initial play-off and regular exercise should remedy that quickly. They do their business as soon as they get outside, although it might be a leap to say they're potty-trained since we don't think they spent much time loose in their previous home - but at least they are in the habit of relieving themselves outside so that's a good start. We don't have much more to share at this point, but will add to this description as info becomes available. Mae is very bonded with Harlow, so we would love for both of them to get adopted by the same family.

You can meet Mae (and Harlow) at Wilmette Pet Center anytime during store hours 7 days a week (625 Green Bay Road, 847-251-6750). Please know that you will have to complete an application prior to adopting Mae.

Mae's adoption fee of $325 includes: vet exam, heartworm test (neg.), distemper, bordetella and rabies vaccinations, routine deworming, flea control, microchip and spay.
