Facts about George

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Orange Or Red Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Since his arrival at the Kitty Bunkhouse, George has become a staff favorite. This sweet and affectionate boy is a little shy with strangers, but he will always accept a head scratch or belly rub from his favorite people. He also loves sitting in the window or spending time in the outside cat run, whether he’s sun-bathing, rolling in the plants, or just watching life go on at the ranch. George would probably prefer to be with older, calmer cats - or be the only cat in the house - since he usually doesn't appreciate the commotion and antics that the youngsters create. This eight-year-old can be a little sassy at times, and he will need to find a family that loves and appreciates his independent nature.

** George has recently been diagnosed with Feline Asthma. Just like with humans, the condition can be easily managed in a low-stress environment with caretakers who are mindful of symptoms and possible complications, and are willing and able to provide medical care when needed.

About Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary

About Our Shelter...

The mission of the Kindness Ranch is to provide a sanctuary and place of rehabilitation for animals who have been used in laboratory research.

Staff at Kindness Ranch work to rehabilitate our dogs and cats in a home-like environment. Cats and dogs at the ranch live together with their human caretakers in spacious yurts specially designed to meet their needs. They receive round-the-clock care to help them adjust to their new lives.

The Kindness Ranch also provides foster and adoption programs for all the animals we can rehabilitate. Those who are too debilitated, old or ill to be placed in a loving home can remain on the ranch to live out their days, surrounded by caretakers and volunteers who put the animals’ well-being first.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Potential adopters are welcome to visit Kindness Ranch and meet the animals by appointment. Some animals are also able to visited in or near their foster homes. We sometimes hold adoption events in Cheyenne, WY and Casper, WY.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an adoption application to be filled out and may request a home visit if deemed necessary. Potential adopters are counseled on the special needs that many lab animals have and will work with a staff member to find a good match for their home. The adoption fee is $50 for cats and $150 for dogs. All adopters sign an adoption contract, as well, and are encouraged to keep in touch with pictures and stories!
