My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET Ms. MISSY -

Our sweetest little cutie patootie (see that smile?), Ms. MISSY is a long hair, 16.5 pound Black and Tan Dachshund. Although she is experiencing some sadness in her life right now, she continues to bring joy to everyone who meets her. Here is her message to you (for you Nat King Cole or Natalie Cole fans, this will be familiar):

'Smile, though your heart is aching, Smile, even though it's breaking
Though there are clouds in the sky, You'll get by...
If you smile through your fears and sorrows, Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through.
If you just light up your face with gladness, Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever, ever so near...That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find life is still worthwhile, If you'll just smile'

Are you smiling yet? Ms. MISSY enjoys walking and going for rides in the car. She loves hugs and kisses (just like most other Dachshunds) and because Ms. MISSY gets along so well with pretty much everyone (even cats and children), we're confident that she will get along well with your family too. MISSY's loving parents are moving into memory care and can no longer care for her, so she is looking for a new, loving forever home. Could it be yours?

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give MISSY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
