Facts about Roy

  • Breed: Budgie
  • Color: Green
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
On 6-26-14 we had Fertile Myrtle, her husband Roy, and their 27 children (yes, twenty-seven) dropped off at our rescue. Some of the babies were only two weeks old and had to be handfed. They are all green, some light green, some darker green, but we hope they are a pleasing shade of green and some really nice people will want to give them good homes WITHOUT NEST BOXES SO THEY WON'T HAVE ANY MORE BABIES!!! Here is Roy, ready to call it quits on building a family.

Our birds are not available for breeding and we do not ship birds, so you must travel to our south Kansas City area facility. Potential adopters must call 816-356-4700 for an appointment, and must fill out an adoption application and pass a screening interview to ensure that our birds are going to a safe home. There is usually a 48 hour waiting period after your interview before you are allowed to adopt because we want people to take time and think thru their decision.

Adoption fee for this bird is $5

About Our Shelter...

Burge Bird Rescue is attached to Burge Bird Services, a 100% avian veterinary hospital in the south Kansas City Missouri area. We are a no-kill nonprofit shelter for all kinds of birds from finches to macaws, from pigeons to ducks. Many of our birds have special needs, and no bird is ever turned away due to medical issues. In 2013 we helped over 300 birds in need!
