My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kodiak (aka “Kodi”) is a little over one year old and full of energy. He is everything you can expect of a typical young Husky – playful, curious, friendly, rambunctious, and ready to roam. Kodi’s owners had to move back in with their parents, and it made for very cramped living quarters as he was now living with four people and four dogs in a relatively small home. He got along with all the other dogs, but he may have been too exuberant for the old Yorkie. Kodi had two small seizures while living in that stressful environment, and his family thought it best to find him a more relaxed home. He is now living in a DVSHR foster home with other dogs and doing fabulously.

He will need to continue his medication called Phenobarbital which is less than $10/month. He will need a family who is committed to having his blood levels checked at the veterinarian several times a year.

Because of his medication, Kodi does drink more water than normal dogs and therefore needs more frequent potty breaks. We are hoping to find a home that can provide him with this at least every 3 or 4 hours.

Kodi gives treats up willingly and is not protective of his food or his toys with humans. He is fully housetrained and crate trained. He is great with other dogs, older kids, but we recommend no cats or small animals as he is, after all, a typical husky!

Huskies have been known to live seizure free for the remainder of their lives once proper treatment is provided. Won’t you give this handsome and spunky boy a spot in your home?
