My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SERENA is a 2 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 52 pounds. She is part of a bonded pair with Shiloh and they must be adopted together. The are country dogs and probably would not do well in an apartment/townhouse/condo or busy neighborhood. They have lived together since Serena was a pup and she is dependent on Shiloh. When you toss them a toy Serena is normally the one that gets to it first then she teases Shiloh until he joins in the play. They both like attention and being petted. They know some commands such as sit, down and working on stay. Serena hasn't been on lead much so will need an easy walk harness. Both are house and crate trained but had free run of the house. Serena and Shiloh are approved for kids ages 10+

Update (12/22): The pair is really settling in and becoming more comfortable. They are getting used to people and other dogs walking by the yard. They love to play with each other in the yard! Serena is learning to take treats with a soft mouth. She is doing better all the time. They both are really good about taking care of their business. They prefer the woods usually near the fence. They seem to favor the same spots. This sweet, spunky and loving pair are going to be a wonderful addition to some lucky family. Consider opening your heart and homes to this "odd couple" and you won't regret it!

Update (12/19): The girls are doing great. They haven't bothered the Christmas tree at all. Shiloh was so funny when his fosters were decorating. He hopped on a sofa that we don't allow the dogs on. I told him "off". He got right down but hopped up again when I turned away. When I told him to get off again he did but then went and sat in Serena's crate. It was really cute, almost like put himself in a timeout. He loves to curl up in his foster's lap. Serena loves rope bones. She is a chewer so good chew toys are needed, she doesn't really bother any non-toy items.

Update (11/17): Serena and Shiloh are a lot of fun. They do fairly well on the leashes. They ride great in the car. Both of them like to sit and look out the windows on the drive. Yesterday, they got to play with some toys that they could play tug-of-war with. Of course, they quickly figured out where the toy stash was. Today, Serena disappears upstairs and comes down with a "new" toy. Up she goes again and down with a new toy. She was so funny she kept going back to get more and the total count was 4. They are so good about sleeping on their dog bed. Every once in a while one of them wants to sleep on their foster's bed, but listen to their fosters to sleep in their bed. They are working on their "down" command. They are great at sit, but need to work on down. As long as they know treats are involved they are pretty attentive.

Update (11/05): The kids are doing great. They have discovered the toy box and empty it every day. Serena is partial to squeaky toys of any kind. Outside she loves to run around with a ball in her mouth. Shiloh likes to play tug of war with toys (one fatality so far), and of course he will chase Serena when she has the ball. Occasionally he gets it but Serena steals it back pretty quick.
Shiloh is definitely the sweetest older "brother". Serena will actually take treats out of his mouth and he will let her. He never growls at her except in play. They are getting better on leashes, but mostly they them run and play in the back yard. They will love going to a home where they can run and chase each other. Squirrels and birds won't be visiting the yard any time soon, both Serena and Shiloh chase them away. Serena is working on her kitchen manners. She does counter surf. They sleep through the night on the dog bed in the bedroom, only hopping up on the bed in the morning. They give a few kisses and curl up for a snooze. They will go into the crate with a little encouragement. They have been getting Kongs with some peanut butter in the mornings before their foster leaves for work. These two are just so much fun.

Update (11/04):Serena and Shiloh did so well cuddling up for a nap in the afternoon that we decided to see how they would do overnight. We got them settled on the dog bed and they stayed there all night long. They did act as though they needed to go outside when one of the humans got up at 4:30. We let them hop on the bed after they went outside. Both settled down and went back to sleep. We have taken a couple of walks and they are getting the hang of walking on leashes. They love to run and chase each other. Serena will get a ball and try to get Shiloh to come after her. Serena loves squeaky toys. Shiloh seems to like fleecy toys, but of course like any spoiled child Serena tries to take anything Shiloh picks up. He just takes it in stride. They both love to sit on our laps. These are two sweet dogs that love to give kisses. Whoever adopts them will get a wonderful pair of dogs
