My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Duke is a diamond in the rough and he finds himself in need of a new home. Duke is a 4 year old neutered, American Bulldog mix (just a guess), around 85 pounds, but he is built very tall and lean, all muscle. He was found as a stray last October in Miami, Florida, and was minutes from being put down before being adopted by a family in Iowa. Unfortunately his family cannot keep him because they live in an apartment and he really needs to be in a house with a fenced yard. He is temporarily being housed with a relative.

Duke is very friendly and great with children; he seems to be drawn to them far more than adults. He is probably not a great match for small children since he can knock little kids down when he gets excited.

He hasn't had any formal training, but he is learning some commands. He is NOT leash trained, and he does pull very hard. However he does have a lot of potential, he just needs training, and an outlet for his energy, mostly a backyard to run in, and a place to play with his toys. He knows how to destroy most toys, though he doesn't chew on other things, unless it resembles a stuffed animal or dog toy.

Duke will chase animals if they run from him, but has been living in a house with 7 cats, and once the cats get used to him, he is fine. He has been wonderful every time his current family has taken him to the dog park, although he likes to steal balls and frisbees.

Duke would make an amazing dog for a person willing to give him time, space, and training. Can you give him the home he needs?

This dog’s adoption fee is $225. Adopters must live within 150 miles or 3 hours drive of the Quad City area.
