Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Maverick is a 4 to 5 year old min pin or min pin mix who weighs about 13 pounds. He was found as a stray dog and no owner was found, so he is now enjoying life in his foster home. Maverick has a great temperament--he loves to chase the resident Irish terrier around the yard, racing around the house at warp speed and then snooping for squirrels in the woods. He is very good about coming back when he is called, but depending on where he lives he might need a fenced yard. Evenings can find him snuggled with foster mom watching TV and he sleeps under the covers at night!!! If foster mom heads for the car, he's right there, hoping for a car ride. He has learned to enjoy a dog treat from foster dad or he jumps up on his lap to help him watch football. Maverick is going to do best with adults or teens as he is wary of being picked up, no doubt due to situations in his past life. He is fine with other dogs, male or female, but he would likely be a cat chaser. Maverick is dependably house trained and can be kenneled though he behaves well inside when family is gone. He is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. His adoption fee is $350 to cover his full vet care which included a neuter, heartworm test and pills, immunizations, worming, and he has a HomeAgain chip so he will never be lost again. .
• Homeowners: Required
• Status of adopter: 30+

• Another dog in the home: He would enjoy another playful dog but would do fine as an only dog if he were not left home alone for long hours
• Cat(s) in the home: Not tested with cats but likely to chase them
• Fenced yard: Strongly preferred, may consider other options
• Time alone on work days: Can be alone for a shorter workday, i.e. 6 hours
