Peaches is a sweet, mellow dog who LOVES people. She is housebroken, obedient, and low key - it's rare to hear her bark. She is eager to please and is just happy to be around you. She loves attention, but can just as easily curl up on her bed and take a nap for hours. While she can have a puppy-like demeanor with a playful energy, she is mature and smart enough to understand commands and "house rules". She isn't big into playing with her toys, but is a lean and athletic girl...she was even featured in an Agility Allstar showcase! A long walk is easy for her and we wouldn't be surprised if she could keep up with you on a run. A fun day for Peaches is riding in the car, going on park trails or hikes, or just snuggling up next to you to watch the game or a movie!
She is currently in a foster home and is thriving. She's learned new commands and routines and is enjoying the comforts of a home. She loves to nap in her crate or on the couch (and she knows she's only allowed on the couch cushions that are covered with a blanket). She's mastered the stairs and is no longer hesitant of taking walks in the dark. She's a smart girl who's made amazing progress in such a short time. Her foster family says she's a pleasure to have in their home.
Peaches has demonstrated levels of separation anxiety, but benefits greatly from consistent and positive direction. Her anxiety is easy to manage for a committed and responsible owner who knows (or is willing to learn) the basics of dog behaviors. Be confident in knowing that EHR will provide instructions and assistance during the process to whomever adopts her.
An ideal home for her would be a retired person/couple or a person/couple who works close to home (or even from home). Peaches sometimes likes to jump up and give kisses, so she would do best in a home with older children. Though she has shown some signs of being dog selective (which means she reacts negatively to certain dogs) she has never really had the chance to bond with another dog. So, a home with another pup may not be out of the question completely...it just has to be the right fit. EHR volunteers and her foster family continue to work with her on this issue.
