Facts about Kenosha

  • Breed: Calico
  • Color: Calico Or Dilute Calico
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
10/27/14- This beautiful dilute tortie girl was found bundled up in a pillowcase, abandoned next to a dumpster behind an apartment building. She was quite scared and confused! Once we got Kenosha into foster care, we started to suspect that she might have been abused, because she was very fearful and defensive with us and other cats. However, with a lot of handling and treats and practice being petted, Kenosha has become much more trusting with people and is quite affectionate and responsive to us. She likes to have her cheeks rubbed and in fact has become eager for attention. She is not a lapcat, but she just likes to hang out with you, and she thinks it is great fun to chase toys if you will take the time to throw them for her. Kenosha needs to be handled gently and respectfully, so would do best in a home without young kids who like to haul a cat around as shes not the type to sit still for that! She still does not care for other cats much, and would do best as an only cat. Like many cats, she decidedly does not like going out in her carrier to the vet or elsewhere and can pitch a royal fit during and after travel (we suspect she has an inner prima donna waiting to come out), but aside from that she is quite a good girl. Kenosha has been spayed, vaccinated, and tested and is ready for a home of her own. She is about 4.5 years old. If she sounds like the right cat for you, please contact us with any questions about her or for more info on our adoption process.

About Second Chance Shelter For Cats

About Our Shelter...

We are a small NO-KILL home-based shelter in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Jamaica Plain and a network of loving foster homes, friends, sympathetic veterinarians and feline rescuers, working to reduce the number of homeless cats in our backyards and on our local Boston streets. We are strictly NO-KILL. We believe that no one has the right to judge (as many shelters do) who is deserving of his or her own life. We euthanize only when a veterinarian concludes an animal is terminally ill with no hope of recovery. We are always asked our hours of operation. We are not staffed during the day, we receive no state, city or federal funding, we are all volunteers who give our time and money for love of the animals. We all work paying jobs during the day and care for the animals every evening.

Come Meet Our Pets...

A few of our cats and kittens live in the adoption center at the Petsmart at 215 Needham Street, Newton, MA.
