Miyo is a 7 year old female black and tan Shiba Inu picked up as a stray in North Carolina and taken to the shelter. Scared and alone at the shelter, she waited a week until she was finally alone in her kennel, then gave birth to her puppy all alone in the middle of the night. DCSIR rescued both Miyo and her puppy from the shelter, and brought them to foster in the DC area. Since the puppy has been adopted out to a forever home--it's Miyo's turn! Miyo is very playful and friendly with dogs! She enjoys sleeping on the sofa at night, running in the yard and not wanting to come back inside, playing with her foster siblings and stealing their toys and beds--and begging for food!! Miyo loves playing in the snow--of which DC has had a lot recently!

DCSIR is considering widening the adoption area for Miyo; if you live outside the metro DC area but are interested in adopting Miyo, please submit an adoption application!
