This is Darlin', it really is amazing she has such a sweet disposition after all she's been through. Darlin' was found as a stray, skin and bones, and with all of her puppies only a few days old. She was picked up by animals control but was scheduled to be euthanized along with her puppies because they were too young to survive at the shelter. Thankfully, we the family the day they were scheduled to be put to sleep.
Darlin' was a great mom and faithfully raised all of her adorable puppies. They were all adopted months ago, and yet sweet Darlin' is still hoping to find a home. We wish we could start to explain to whomever is reading this right now just how great and deserving of a dog she is, but it's a challenge to put into words. She's already potty trained and has great house manners. She is completely people oriented and will do anything to please. When she sees someone she recognizes she does a little happy dance and wiggles all over. Darlin' does guard around her food bowl a little, which given how skinny she was when we got her is pretty understandable. She has never bitten any of the volunteers whom have put their hands in her food bowl while she's eating but will freeze up. Because of her tensing up around food, we think it's best she go to a home without young kids or other animals. But not to worry, you only need one great pet and Darlin' is just that.
The Empty Shelter Project operates as a foster-based animal rescue. We do not have an actual facility for viewing dogs but potential adopters are welcome to meet dogs at our adoption events at PetValu every Sunday from 11-3. If you see a specific pet you would like to meet, please contact us in advance to make sure they will be at the event. PetValu is located at 10079 Market Circle Dr, Manassas VA 20110.
