My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**ADOPTION FEE APPLIES email caarescue@gmail.com to know more**

My name is Cashew and my family left me at the pound listing as the reason for abandoning me as “no time to care for him” thankfully they did not check off the “pls euthanize” box so here I am today to tell you my story and a little about myself:
Really the honest truth is the pound made me very sad and absolutely terrified as I sat there in the lobby with my family as they filled out the paper work check off the boxes to say I was: clean in the house, I am good with cats and dogs and people and children, that I am good on the leash and very obedient.
Once the paperwork was complete they handed me over and I was carried down a hallway by a stranger, then down a flight of stairs into the basement and into a cage surrounded by many other dogs in cages all barking and crying.
I was really very terrified there and it was obvious to the employees that pound life would not fare well with me and my chances of survival would diminish as each day passed. They immediately contacted an off island shelter & that off island shelter took me in and contacted CAA Rescue right away and within two days a really nice lady from CAA Rescue came to pick me up and bring me to my foster home!

That really nice lady decided that she would foster me herself on the car ride back to her place!!! She is a big dog lover so everyone was surprised to hear the news but I think my sad face really pulled at her heart and she wants to be the one to help me and be sure I find my true forever home!

I was really shy and nervous at first just shadowing my new foster mummy around, it is obvious that I desperately missing my previous family. It is obvious that there was someone I deeply loved and it is obvious that my heart is broken as I was torn away from this person. I am adjusting well though all things considered on what I have lived through the last few weeks to make it to foster care! If you know my breed well you know I am a very loyal dog and completely devoted to my family so being away from them will take time for me to heal … I need someone who wants to show me that I was always meant to be with them. To never be abandoned ever again and to always have me be with you and your family no matter where you go or where life takes you.

I am in a foster home with cats and dogs and get along just fine but my true love is people
I REALLY like my walks and get super excited when the leash comes out, so if you like to walk and have adventures together I am your little dude!

I am clean in the home and just want to snuggle with you!
So far I am not that vocal but I am in an active home with a lot going on so not sure how I will change in the future but my breed is sometimes called “yappy” which is a real disservice to who I am!! I have a super keen sense of hearing and hear more than you could or would possibly imagine. I was made to guard and warn my family of danger! When I do bark it is for a reason and just because you cannot hear that reason does not make me a “yappy” dog
My eyes are big and beautiful and speak volumes on what I am feeling! Melting into them and being hypnotized by them is my charm!

While some might consider me small at 22lbs I am still a very young and vibrant boy as I can live to 15-18 years old so I need both mental and physical simulation to keep me a happy, healthy, well rounded and adjusted dog and friend for life!

If you would like to meet me please write to CAARescue@gmail.com and ask them for an adoption application – while I love my foster mummy and foster home it is really time I get back on the road to finding you … my real best friend for life!
