My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

* PETUNIA IS BEING FOSTERED IN FRESNO *
Hi. My name is Petunia and I am a very lucky girl. I came into rescue via a Good Samaritan who saw me dodging traffic near a vineyard. She took the time to follow me into the vineyard and found me and my mom, both starving and infested with itchy critters. She took us home and fed and bathed us, and got rid of all those pesky critters. That was the best day ever! It took me a little while to trust humans but now I love them, both big and small. Given my humble beginnings, I feel very lucky to have such wonderful people who stepped up to make sure I would have a good life. My foster Mom says I am delightful. I am learning house manners and am pretty good about going outside to do my business. I don’t always let my foster Mom know when I have to go but she has a good sense of when I need to go out so there are no accidents in the house. I love car rides and don’t get sick at all. My foster Mom is trying to teach me that in her lap is not the best place to be when she is driving.

Even though I am only 5 months old, I’m a good girl and can be trusted alone outside of my crate without destroying anything. I don’t really like to be left alone but the best part of being left alone is coming home again. I worry that my foster Mom is not going to come back, but she does every time and I give her lots of kisses because I am so happy to see her. I’ve just started going on walks and I am really good on a leash, if I do say so myself. There are lots of new things in the world that I am experiencing now that I am getting out and about. Some things scare me – like cats and squirrels. I bark at them to make them go away but I don’t chase them until I am sure they are out of my yard. And then when I know it is safe, I'm very brave and will give chase.

Petunia is a petite and darling little pup, only 20 lbs. She has adjusted to having a safe home where she is loved and cared for and seems to have no memory of her harsh life before rescue. She loves people of all sizes, especially the little ones. Petunia would be happy in a home with people who have the time and patience to train and nurture this precious little pup into the loyal and loving dog she was born to be.
