Nelson's Story...
Meet Nelson, an 8-year old Labrador. Nelson came to us as a stray, so we don’t know everything about his past. However, since being at the shelter he’s proven himself to be a smart, playful, fun-loving boy. He loves getting time to chase down tennis balls outdoors, as well as regular walks with his people. Nelson has already mastered a few commands and would be happy to learn more with his new family. His friendly nature means he would be happy to share a new home with other dogs, dog savvy cats, and active children who can keep up with him. If this playful pooch sounds like the one for you, then stop on by the shelter today to meet Nelson. - See more at:

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nelson, a West Kennebunk Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in West Kennebunk, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in West Kennebunk.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Kennebunk already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Kennebunk breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Kennebunk paves the way for another one to be saved.
