Hi! I'm Rocky, the super awesome, very sophisticated 2year old pit mix who was found as a stray in Hopewell, Va. I had a severe eye injury that was causing cranial pressure and thus needed to be removed. I was nervous but brave and under went surgery to have my eye removed and to be neutered....I was so brave, I came out in high spirits. I am potty trained, crate trained and know basic commands. I am current on all my vaccines, microchipped, have done training with a certified dog trainer,Kasey H. with 2SpeakDog up in Richmond. I have just started swimming with Alpha Dog Club which helps me build confidence with new experiences and people. The instructor says I'm a natural swimmer, great gentle glide and that my whole boyd is completely relaxed when I'm in the water, what can I say I'm a pro!!! lol With loosing an eye, it makes an already confusing world that much more difficult, each day Rocky continues to build his confidence, as he goes out in public, walks well on leash w/ distractions. He loves to play ball, but his favorite thing is those hard Durabone toys. He would do best in a home with room to stretch and a backyard to run. Being a young dog, rocky needs exercise/ brain games to help keep him focused and challenge him. He loves to work and is treat and toy motivated. If you've got one of those soft treats, let's just say YOU'LL BE HIS BEST FRIEND FOREVER. He would do best with an experienced dog owner that can be patient with him as he learns this new world around him. He truly is a sweet, gentle guy, who is a great snuggler as long as your willing to share the Rocky will only be adopted as an only dog family. He will also require upon adoption to complete 1 full 6week course with 2speakdog, so that as a family, you too can learn the positive training techniques and watch Rocky continue to flourish!!! Our Adoption Process...

Our Adoption Process is comprised of the following:

Fill out an adoption application with a summary of why your interested in adopting one of our animals and who. Once your application has been reviewed and references have been called, we would schedule a home visit and meet and greet also if you have any other pets, everyone would have to meet as well.
We have a 2 week foster to adopt program to make sure it is the best suitable forever home. Once the two week program is up, we would finalize the adoption.
Our adoption fees for cats range between:
Our adoption fees for dogs range between:
Please understand, some of our animals require a lot more medical care, larger amounts of food etc. All adoption fees are tax deductible and used to help save another animal from a kill shelter and be provided food, shelter and quality medical care. Most of our animals have already been spayed/neutered, microchiped, completely up to date on all vaccines: Dapp/Lepto, Bordetella, Lyme, hw test and prevention and fecal checks are done to ensure they are clear of intestinal parasites. In some case, we have animals that have been rehabilitated and have worked with behaviorists to help build confidence. Others have required emergency surgery for hips, eyes and more.
