My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie is an amazing dog. She is so easy going and all she wants is just to be near you and to love you. She would be a great companion for someone who doesn't want to put too much time into training as she is basically the perfect chilling dog and will listen to any basic command. She would be an ideal choice for a first time dog owner. She is friendly with everyone and everything and just loves to be with people and enjoy her life. Ellie is an older gal approximately 7 - 8 years old and is currently overweight at approximately 70 lbs.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Ellie is a dog that you will fall head over heals in love with as she is just such a sweet dog. She just wants to love and be loved. She is friendly with everyone, takes everything in her stride and asks for nothing but some care and consideration. Ellie doesn't like to be left alone and will start whining and become vocal if left alone. However, this doesn't seem to last very long. It would help if she has a dog there with her to keep her company. I am walking her a little bit more then usual to help with weight loss in hopes that it will be easier on her hips. Other than that though she is full of life and healthy. She did suffer from a bad flea infestation that has left some scars on her body and sitting on death row in a cold cell for so long didn't help her any in regard to her weight.

Ellie has a lot of life in her and she is very versatile. If you feel like having a couch day she would be curling up beside you and if you want to go for a nice long walk she would love that to. In the house her energy level is what yours is. She is like a silent shadow following you around completely content. When I brought her home to meet my two dogs, she was completely calm and sniffed a couple times and then went about her business checking the place out. She doesn't seem to have a bad bone in her body and will even lick treats out of your hand. She has not shown any shyness. She is very open calm and curious when she is meeting new people or animals.

She is great when meeting other animals. She was great with my cat. She just approached her a bit to get a smell and then walked away same with my dogs. She is so easy going. I had her sleeping in our room at first because I wasn't comfortable with her in the room with two dogs after they just met, but come the third day she was wanting to sleep in the dog pack which accepted her peacefully. She is very calm and not easily spooked. I was making dinner in the kitchen the other night and I swear I dropped everything I touched and Ellie just laid there the whole time just watching me silently being a good girl. She loves her walks and loves any and all attention. I have yet to take her outside with a ball due to the weather. She is generally a very quiet dog. She may only bark when you first leave her or if someone is at the door.

Ellie is very well behaved in the home. She doesn't try to steal food and doesn't even bother to hover under me when I am in the kitchen. She knows sit, down, off, paw, come, up (for stairs), out (out of room). She also smiles!! She is fully house trained. She will get in her crate but she hates it because she thinks you are leaving her and she hates that. She is fairly good on the leash, at first she is excited and might pull a bit but just correct her and once you get walking she is great. You may just have to do a quick jerk on the leash to get her attention if she gets distracted. She loves going for car rides and is well behaved in the car.

Ellie would be great for either someone who is retired or a family where at least one person is usually home as she doesn't like to be left alone and will cry when you first leave. Another dog in the home would be an alternative to keep her company.

If you think Ellie would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
