MAYBELLE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
MAYBELLE is maturing nicely and learning a lot. Her social skills have blossomed thanks to The Dog Patch and her current foster parents. We also would like to thank K9 Leadership, Maureen Fielding for all her help in making MAYBELLE and her foster parents be the best they can be. MAYBELLE is easy to train and catches on FAST! She is one smart pup for sure. She is 9 months old and weighs about 55 lbs. She is house-trained and crate-trained. MAYBELLE'S foster parents are calling her Bailey and will be deciding in the next couple of weeks if they will be officially applying to adopt her permanently. Please check back for updates.
AUG 24th, 2014. MAYBELLE will need more time in foster care as it is uncertain whether her foster parents will be keeping her. She is currently on hold for training and socializing. She is now spayed and doing well. Check back for updates on her adoption status. MAYBELLE is a GREAT dog for a dog savvy owner that has successfully trained a dog using positive methods. Maybelle can be fearful of dogs on leash and needs to learn better coping skills over time. Maybelle loves people and is great in the home.
AUG 10th, 2014. Young, vibrant and ready to learn MAYBELLE is coming to us from NARA (Northern Animal Rescue Alliance) in Terrace next week. MAYBELLE was found as a stray and never claimed. She is approx 7 months old and looks to be an almost full-breed German Shepherd. MAYBELLE will need an active BREED SAVVY owner that understands the breed. MAYBELLE is generally good with other dogs once she has met them but has been reactive when meeting on leash or through a fence. She is also true to her breed and can be on the herdie side so she will need a handler that can funnel/work this energy. In a nutshell she is a typical German Shepherd. We will be insisting on obedience training with her new family to ensure things start off right. MAYBELLE will be spayed next week. Maybelle will NOT be placed in a home with small children (under 12).
MAYBELLE'S NEEDS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
A BREED SAVVY owner that has successfully and positively trained a GSD.
A home with no young children as she will herd them.
A home that will provide her with the exercise/dog sports she needs to excel.
A home where Maybelle will be an indoor pet.
A savvy owner that will attend obedience training with their new K9 companion
