My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lacy is a sweet, chatty and playful companion. She is so expressive in her face ears and voice! Lacy will chat away with you then lay her head in your neck for a hug. From our experience with her it is clear to see that before coming into Ugly Mutts Lacy lived as a stray and was without the luxurious amenities, a nice comfy bed to snuggle up in and lots of attention. Most importantly, food! Lacy has now learned that meal times come frequently and there is no need to reserve food for later or defend her food. She currently is living with other dogs and dog savvy cats.

Here is what else Lacy's foster family had to say:

Lacy is very healthy, she has a nice fluffy coat beautiful eyes and a wonderful smile! It is obvious that before coming to us Lacy's tail had been broken. It has healed now and does not bother her at all. It just takes a bit of a left turn at the end of the tail. Her fluffy coat covers it perfectly! Lacy's age is very appropriate, she is playful ready to roll when you want her to be but is an EXCELLENT cuddlier when the time comes . She is great about quiet time, if you are working at the computer you can bet that she is snoozing at your feet. Lacy is of moderate to high energy. She is an intellectual dog who enjoys mental and physical stimulation. She love to wrestle with my boxer pup and run around the yard with him.

Lacy has been with my young godson as well as older children and has done beautifully, I would say one a day to day basis she would prefer a home with older people but would be fine with being around young family members of friends. Lacy was great with all the trick or treaters coming by, she was very bouncy and playful wanting a chance to go out and meet everyone. Lacy can take a few minutes to warm up but is generally friendly with everyone. Since living with three other dogs Lacy welcomes new dogs into the home and is ready to play! Cats take her longer to adjust to but now we don't have any issue and allow Lacy to sleep out of her crate and loose and have no concerns for the cats.

Lacy would sometimes cry in the crate but settle down after a few minutes, lately rather than crating her she has just been put into our office with our one dog loose without issue. In her forever home Lacy would have no issue being left loose and would more than likely find a comfy spot to nap while you're out.

She is a confident curious pup who enjoys new things. Lacy loves to cuddle with her people an hang out outside, walks , helping out in the yard. She also loves to wrestle. It would appear this is a new found joy for her since when she first came she had no idea what my puppy was trying to do with her!

Lacy is very quiet and clean in the home. She never tries to steal anything. She is great about playing with her toys and nothing she shouldn't have. She at one point was carrying a pajama top around the house of mine but never destructive. Lacy knows to sit, lay down, come and will come with a whistle. She is great about coming when she is called and if you tell her no it only takes one no and she knows! Lacy is beautifully house trained, she has only had one accident in the house and it was completely my fault. I didn't completely understand her chattiness when she first came and I took it as she wanted to play when rather she had to go for a pee! Other than that she is wonderful about holding it and communicating when its time to go!

Lacy does well on leash, at time she does need a reminder not to pull. She also tends to get excited when seeing other dogs on walks. As long as you let her know and give her the correction before crossing paths with the other dog she does wonderfully. In the first few days Lacy was very timid and nervous about being in the house. She was much more comfortable going for a nap in our shed. Now that she has had time to enjoy being in the house she loves it. She comes flying in when called and only goes out when she has been given the okay.

Lacy is sweet smart and happy go lucky girl. She will need a confident owner and someone who is ready to be her leader and show her just how great life is and can be! Lacy would do amazing as a single's companion, a young couple, or a retired couple. As long as the owner is confident and willing to spend the time with her she will be amazing. Lacy has a lot of love to give and she wants to make her people so very happy and proud. She has come a long way and really deserves to be somewhere that she can relax and be herself which is amazing! We have completely fallen in love with this little girl and can't wait to see her in her forever home!

If you think Lacy may be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
