Spunky's Story...
My name is Spunky. And I take that name seriously. I am about 5 mos old and I am ALL BOY! I came into the back of New Hanover with a broken leg. The ER splinted my leg, gave pain meds and prescribed crate rest. They called me Broken Leg Dog. Even with my splint on I would run, chase a ball and I hated that they wouldn't let me. I came to AAA and they took me to another vet who said my leg had healed really well in just 3 weeks since I have puppy dog legs and that heals fast. I got neutered on Monday and the final X-ray was taken and there is no evidence of a break at all. Bottom line. That was a waste of AAA money because the people who know me can tell you that I can run, jump, play and nothing slows me down. The vet even said when he neutered me that my name is very fitting. I am just a little guy who weighs about 11 pounds. I do well with other dogs who can put up with my constant play and perhaps annoying puppy antics. I am part dachshund and part puppy. I shouldn't get too much bigger. I will be at Petco this Sat and it would be great to get adopted so I can play, play, play. I am high energy and operate at full throttle. Whimps need not apply. At this time I would like to thank Sherry, Jill, Anne, Steve, Rhonda and Judy for putting up with me these last several weeks as I healed. I kept them laughing really hard.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spunky, a Wilmington Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher puppy from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher breeders who help with Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
