My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated bio 11/13/14 Ralphie is a precious, little 5.5 pound, one year old fellow. He is being fostered in Leesburg, FL

Ralphie went to the surgeon today and had his stitches removed. He is recovering nicely, but just as we were told, he will still need at least 6 more weeks of being confined in order for his surgical repairs to heal properly. Thankfully he is able to walk around for a little while outside to do his business, but no running, jumping, or playing. That is so hard for such a young dog who is still a puppy. He wants to play with the other dogs so badly he sits in his puppy pen and barks at them to pay attention to him and come play with him.

We, his foster parents, take him out several times a day and also have him on our laps throughout the day.

We know that Ralphie is very friendly and loves to give kisses. He uses the potty pad in his puppy pen and will go outside, but he has not be able to be free in the house so we have no idea if he is truly house trained. He was wonderful in the car the whole ride to and from the vet. He slept in his doggie carrier and didn't make a sound.

Ralphie was able to get a bath today and he smells so wonderful now. The vet trimmed his toe nails and soon he will get a little mimi grooming. He was so good in the bath and when he was brushed out. He sat like an angel through his little spa treatment. A sweeter dog just can't be found.

Although Ralphie will have to remain in his foster home for at least 6 more weeks, we are taking applications for him. He will be ready to go to his forever home by New Year's, maybe even by Christmas. What a wonderful gift for anyone looking for love and for Ralphie who deserves his new forever life in the new year.

Update Bio 11/5/14 Ralphie is a 1 year old, 6 pound amazing little fellow. He is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Ralphie has made terrific progress. He is still healing from his surgery. It will take several more weeks before he is ready to be adopted, but we are taking applications for him. He is walking so much better and feeling so much better. too. He needs to be kept quiet and contained so that his surgical repairs can heal properly. This is very hard for such a young fellow who is starting to feel so good. But it is necessary in order for him to make a full recovery.

Ralphie's foster parents believe he is potty trained. He uses the potty pad in his puppy pen and will also do his business outside. His foster parents carry him out, put him on the grass to do his business, and carry him back in again. He would love to play with his foster sisters, and it is so sad to see him watching them and not being able to play with them. He is, after all, a puppy, and that's what puppies do, they play. We tell Ralphie all the time that soon enough he will be back to running and jumping and playing. Just wish he could understand what we are saying to him.

We make sure Ralphie is near us even if he can't be let loose. His foster mom and dad will sometimes put him on this lap for several minutes. He loves to be held, petted, and cuddled and will give them a million kisses. Ralphie will be seeing his surgeon on Nov.13th to have his stitches removed. We are hoping to be able to give him a bath and a little grooming after that.

As Ralphie continues to feel better his foster parents will know more about is personality, but from what we can tell he will be a great puppy for someone ready for and wanting all that puppy love.

10/29/14: RALPH HAS COME THROUGH HIS SURGERY WITH FLYING COLORS!!! The surgery was successful!!!!! His pelvis was pinned and his femur was repaired (we were worried he would need an amputation). The wonderful surgeon even neutered him so he wouldn't have to have a second surgery. Ralph is coming out of anesthesia now and doing well according to the vet. WOOHOOOO!!! Thank you everyone for your prayers and donations! As we learn more about Ralph and his recovery, we will update you. We are committed to helping this little guy heal! Foster mom says he is such a sweet and special boy.

Initial Bio: 10/28/14 RALPH (Florida) is a 5 pound male Yorkie puppy that is approximately a year old who sustained unknown trauma and was dropped off in this condition at a local shelter. UYR rushed to the shelter to pick him up tonight, administered his pain meds for overnight comfort, contacted a surgeon, and is taking him first thing in the morning for surgery. We know he has a BROKEN PELVIS and FRACTURED FEMUR as well as a POSSIBLE DIGESTIVE OBSTRUCTION. We hope to help Ralph but his medical expenses are likely to exceed a couple thousand dollars and we DESPERATELY NEED DONATIONS. Every dollar helps, please consider a TAX FREE DONATION and send prayers as he is in bad shape. We will update as soon as we know more.
