My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hemi is a very mild tempered Labrador/St Bernard mix dog, roughly 2-4yrs old, approx 90 pounds with a wonderful disposition. In spite of his size you barely notice that he is in the room unless you're eating food or he has a need to go outside. He has a beautiful chocolate and white coloring with spotted feet, his coat is like a Labradors, so is easily brushed and he agreeable to being groomed.

Hemi gets along wonderfully with other dogs his size and small dogs too. He is fine with cats and children of any age. He does startle easily, but also recovers quickly after the initial scare. He does not display any food aggressions or any other negative personality traits outside of being a couch potato.

Hemi would be a wonderful addition to any family with children, other dogs or cats, but requires a home with a secure, tall privacy fenced in area or locks on gates as he is very intelligent and can open various traditional gate latches easily. He would do best in a home where he can be mostly indoors and be part of the family. He is fully housetrained and alerts you when he needs to go outside by nudging, pushing, and prodding you to take him out and he scratches on the door when he is ready to come back inside.

We are working on crate training, but Hemi prefers not to be in a crate and does well in the house and would much rather lay on the couch or be near his family. He is very quiet and we have only heard him bark once, very softly.

Hemi is very easy to walk on a leash, rides well in a vehicle, doesn’t chew and is a big ole loveable couch potato. He definitely loves to have his belly and ears scratched and be allowed to just hang out.

Hemi transitioned very easily with his foster family of 2 cats, 2 dogs - one 12lb Schnauzer & one 95lb German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix - and three children ages 12, 7, and 9months.
