Itsy's Info...

Itsy's Story...
Itsy came to us in the spring from a neglectful hoarding situation which left her with multiple, persistent health issues. She needed to be medicated for infections for many months to regain her health. She is now stabilized and gaining weight, though her right sinus remains persistently swollen, causing her right eye to weep.

Itsy is a very sweet, tame bird. She's still learning to step-up but is very happy to hang out on her foster's shoulder for hours. She likes to communicate with the family, burbling and chirping for attention or responding if whistled to.

She's a non-fearful, non-aggressive tiel with excellent pet potential … but her persistent sinus infection means it would be best if she was not kept with other birds and controlling the infection which occasionally flair up may require ongoing veterinary care.

Any adopter willing to take on the special responsibility of caring for Itsy will be well rewarded by this gentle rescued bird.

Adoption fee: $30

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Itsy, a St. Louis Cockatiel was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatiel for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Cockatiel from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatiel breeders who help with Cockatiel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
