My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Baxter. You might be wondering how such a handsome, AKC registered purebred Lab ended up with a rescue. My so-called “owners” said they were moving but they decided not to take me with them. Imagine that, I had spent my entire life with them and they dumped me at a noisy, smelly, high-kill shelter where all I had for my bed was a concrete floor. Was it because I’m a senior and no longer the cute, young boy they had known? I was very sad. Fortunately, the nice people at Lucky Lab Rescue scooped me up and took me to a warm and quiet foster home where I currently live with two Lab foster brothers. I will be 9 years old next month. Along with age comes a bit of arthritis. The good news is that a pill each day easily manages it. They tell me I have a tall, lean, BIG body – just a bit over 92 lbs. – with a blockhead and a shiny brown coat. I am a gentleman who knows his manners – I certainly don’t potty in the house – and am very polite. My disposition is mellow. While my foster parents are at work during the day, my foster brothers and I nap on the couch and keep a watch over the neighborhood. I get along just fine with all dogs, big or small, and am told that I’d be okay with the kitties. I love to go on walks, ride in the car, play at doggie daycare, and chew on Nylabones. When it’s time to relax, I just lay down on the couch beside my humans and am so quiet that you would hardly know I’m there. I mostly walk well on a harness, but hey, I am a big boy so I do pull sometimes. I am neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative, and micro-chipped. Best part about me is that I’m a big lover who enjoys giving kisses to everyone I meet. Simply put, I’m the “perfect” dog. If you are looking for a great companion, complete the online adoption application and indicate 'Baxter' in the notes section.
