My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sad news- Roxy our 15 year old shih Tzu has been declining in health and was in and out of the hospital over the past 2 weeks, and we finally had to make the tough decision to end her suffering since she continued to go downhill. She was in heart failure and had other respiratory issues, and despite treatment was still refusing to eat and becoming weaker. She was a very sweet quiet little old lady who is missed...as is always the case death is the hardest on those left behind and what makes her passing even sadder is that her best friend Charlie the bichon is devastated. We had been trying to place them as a pair since they shared a very special bond, always sleeping cuddled together and grooming each other. Charlie was rarely more than a few feet away from his Roxy. Charlie is a needy sweet little lapdog who loves human attention and when he wasn't glued to Roxy's side he follows people around desperate to be hugged and loved. Charlie is about 8-10 years old and is a tiny bichon at only 8-10lbs full grown, and he is extremely good-natured without a mean bone in his body. He gets along with all other dogs, cats, and people, even children. What makes him so difficult to place is he is partially incontinent due to neurological damage in his back end and will have accidents in his bed. There is no treatment, other than managing the issue or putting a diaper on it. He's in no pain and is such a lovable little guy who just wants to be loved and held. We know Roxy would want him to be happy and finally find his forever home and someone who will love him unconditionally the way she did (despite him often pooping on her in his sleep, lol). Please email njwoof@cs.com if you would like to foster or adopt this special little guy and help mend his broken heart.

Roxy and Charlie are an adorable devoted couple who were surrendered to a shelter because their owner was ill and couldn't care for them. They are sweet lovable little dogs who love attention and get along well with other dogs and cats, but mostly ADORE each other and we are hoping to find them a home where they can live out their lives together. They sleep on top of one another, clean each others' ears, and can't bear to be apart- where ever one is, the other is never more than a few feet away. Charlie is a ~8 year old tiny bichon, and Roxy is a 15 year old female shih tzu. Both have some medical issues which don't require any treatment at this time- Roxy a heart murmur, and Charlie some neurological/spinal issues which can affect his housebreaking and make it hard for him to hold it overnight. But they are happy and don't ask for much besides a little bit of love and a soft bed to cuddle up in together. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting this special pair- reduced adoption fee for these sweet seniors.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
