My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CHLOE

CHLOE

Age: 5 Yrs; Weight: 17 lbs; Good with dogs: Yes; Good with cats:Yes; Good with children: Yes; House trained: Some incontinence due to spinal injury (see below); Crate trained: No; Adoption Fee: $250.00; Special Needs: Spinal disc damage.

Chloe is a very special BT girl who is looking for her very special forever and ever home.

When Chloe came to CCBTR she was a thin and broken Boston Terrier girl. She could not control her back legs, her urination, or her bowels. But a sweeter little girl you couldn’t ask for. Chloe’s previous owner says that she had been jumping at the fence and barking at the neighbor’s dog when she suddenly fell over. She was severely injured and appeared to be paralyzed for some time.

Upon entering our foster program, Chloe was taken to the Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral Clinic for evaluation. A myelogram was done and it was determined that she had a narrowed disk space between her first and second lumbar vertebra. She was diagnosed with chronic intervertebral disc herniation. Upon the veterinarian’s advice it was decided to proceed with surgery to try to help Chloe, since without the surgery she would most likely never regain control of her legs.

Chloe made it through surgery with flying colors. She has endured many hours of physical therapy, acupuncture, and hydrotherapy. She is quite the little trooper!

Chloe is now finished with her therapy but continues some exercises at home with her foster mom. She can now run and play in the back yard with her fur brother and fur sister. She loves to roam around the yard just smelling all of the flowers and plants.

In most respects Chloe is just your average 5 year old BT girl. Playing, running, and snuggling are three of her favorite pastimes. Chloe does show signs of her spinal injury when she gets tired. This is when her back legs will sometimes cross. Nothing a little nap won’t take care of. Chloe also has a problem with incontinence and will “leak” now and again. Because of this, she is often in a diaper when she is in the house.

So, you see why we say that she needs a very special family to give her a very special forever home. If you have it in your heart to share your life with this sweet little girl, please fill out an adoption application. Chloe would love to meet you and her foster mom will be more than happy to brag on her and tell you what a little angel she is.
