My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Born without claws on any of her paws and shortened hind legs, Josie as a kitten hopped like a bunny and walked like a frog. Despite her disability, she was adopted into what we hoped was a loving Forever Home! Unfortunately after 9 years, her "family" had to move and were unable to take their pets with them. They found homes for the other pets in the household and said they tried to find Josie another home but gave up. They instead dropped her off at an area shelter, stating, "no one wants a deformed cat." She is back now living with a START foster family and although she is having a somewhat difficult time sharing her space, she is slowing starting to come out of her shell and is trying to co-exist and even play with the laser toy! Josie misses her family and we believe she would thrive in a home either as an only pet or with another older laid-back companion.... where her "special needs" of some one-on-one attention and understanding of her background history will make her feel safe again for the rest of her life!

Josie is vaccinated, altered, FeLV/FIV tested negative and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting this pet, you can start the process and access our pre-adoption application which is located on our website at www.startpets.net, click on "Pet Adoptions" complete the form, and send. We can also be reached at 973-785-1245 or email us at adopt@startpets.net. Please remember—out of state adoptions require additional time for approval; you must be 21 years or older to adopt; an application does not guarantee an adoption; not all animals on our website come to all adoption days.
