My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a polite little lady that needs some love? Maybe we are meant to be…let me introduce myself, my humans call me Peggy, I also answer to sweetheart, little turkey, punkin’, Peggster, among other names my silly foster humans decide to make up for me.
I met my foster folks about a month ago and for the first few days I wasn’t sure about this “new life”. You see I spent the majority of last year in a place they call “the shelter”…although everyone there was nice and they did save me from a scary “kill shelter” in California, I was very scared. Then these wonderful folks from Family Dogs New Life gave me another chance and took me to my new foster home.
I warmed up pretty quickly to my foster mom but had a very hard time trusting my foster dad. But after a couple weeks, I realized he is a good guy and I actually really like him now! Once I feel comfortable, I love giving kisses, sometimes it’s a sneaky kiss on their hand, but my favorites to give are the “right in your face” type of kisses!
My foster mom says that I’m very smart and a quick learner. I learned “sit” in just a day! I also learned how to “wait” before eating my food and “wait” before I can just run outside when mom opens the door. And I don’t even need treats to do that; I just need some love and lots of pets.
I love my kennel and I am 100% kennel trained. I am working on my leash manners (I get a little scared outside, so I just need some re-assurance, and with time I know I will do great!)
I live with a foster brother, he is a 10 year old Siberian Husky, and I really enjoy his company. I follow him everywhere and he helped me get over many of my fears. I would love to be in a home with another dog, of course we’d have to meet first. I should tell you though, I am not a big fan of kitties.
My foster moms 3 year old niece came over the other day and at first I was a little confused by this little human. But I decided that hand licking was an appropriate move, so I went for it. She didn’t taste sour or anything, so that was a pleasant surprise! Those little ones move really fast, so I get a little scared of that. But mom says I don’t have a mean bone in my body, I would just like a home with kiddos that are a little bit older.
I love playing with my blankets, I enjoy my toys and not at all interested in chewing shoes or couches (I hear that’s a big plus!).
I am looking forward to meeting my forever family; I have a lot of love to give. My foster mom is amazed every day by the improvements I am making and says with just a little patience I will be an amazing companion.
So come on, what are you waiting for?
Lots of kisses, Peggy
