My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 1-year-old female Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei mix. I weigh about 36 pounds right now, but I am definitely underweight.

I was a stray wandering the streets of LA when Animal Control caught me and brought me to a local high-kill shelter. Judging by my weight, I had either been on the streets for a really long time or I wasn't that great at being a stray.

When I got to the shelter, the staff noticed that I was limping on my left front leg, I had wounds on both armpits, and I was infested with fleas. I was in bad shape. X-rays were taken of my leg and thankfully, no fractures were found. I was put on pain medication and watched closely.

No one knows for sure what happened to me or how I was injured. My friends have learned that I am pretty scared of loud noises so it's possible that I was startled and tried to jump a fence and got caught a couple of times. I may have eventually made it over only to fall and land wrong on my leg causing some bruising. But again, that's only speculation. Either way, because I am fearful of loud noises, if you have a yard, you'd definitely want to make sure it's tall enough that I can't jump over.

By the way, I'm am walking just fine now and no longer limping. You'd never know anything was ever wrong with me!

I spent about 2 weeks at the shelter. During that time, the staff noticed that I was becoming very depressed. The pound is very loud and chaotic and I wasn't handling it well. They knew I had to get out of there soon. Lucky for me, one of the volunteers knew about CageFree and asked them if they would take me into their rescue. They said yes!

I am much happier now and my personality has really started to show. I'm a very sweet girl that gets along with everyone - people and dogs alike! I'm playful, loving, gentle and sweet. I think I am a great dog and so do all my friends! I also happen to be rather stunning! Wouldn't you agree?

If you are looking for a dog like me, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree. I just can't wait to find my forever home that will love me and keep me safe. Are you the one for me??? I sure hope you are!
