My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Tessa, a one year old, small, female, Terrier mix, weighing in at just 30 lbs! I, like most homeless dogs, am looking for a human to love me unconditionally, walk me and keep me safe and warm. What makes me different, than most homeless dogs, is that I shouldn’t even be here. I first escaped death when I was brought into a shelter with a cracked skull, broken jaw and my front teeth savagely pulled from my mouth. The second time I escaped death is when they didn’t euthanize me on the spot because of my injuries. I am so thankful to be here, you would think I would be a product of my past but instead I live in the moment and off of the unconditional love I am getting from my foster family.

Let me tell you some things I LOVE – Kongs filled with peanut butter, leaning on my “mom’s” leg while she is doing anything, going for walks, playing with toys, being massaged, cuddling up, snuggling under a blanket and being part of a family.

These are a few things I am learning to LOVE – other dogs, men and possibly cats. While I was on the mend I had limited exposure to dogs and cats so I am just trying to figure out how this play thing works. It took me some time with the dog in my foster home, but now we are going to walks together. Men use to scare me but I am working to get over that fear and the more I am socialize the better I will get.

I am potty trained and crate trained, I know sit, down and stay. I am a smart girl with a strong desire to please, so teach me some tricks! I have a medium energy level and would be great in a family with or without kids. I am spayed and up-to-date on all of my vaccinations. All of my previous injuries are completely healed and will not affect my life span. I am ready for all of my “firsts”, a few on my bucket list include – walking in the Blue Hills, licking ice cream off a cone, jumping through snow banks and swimming in a lake. Let’s see if we are a match.
