My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brady is a special boy. He is around 8 months old, and is an unknown mix of breeds (maybe alaskan husky/shepherd/whippet type cross). He is around 19 inches tall and only 27lbs; though he could stand to gain a few more pounds.

Brady came from poor living conditions and did not get to meet a lot of people when he was a baby, so he was very nervous of people when he first arrived in his foster home. His foster mom has been working on building his confidence and he is improving every day! It still takes him a little while to trust new people, but he lets people pet him and play with him now.

Brady is a very playful pup and loves to tug and chew on his kong and throw his toys around. He gets along great with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog to show him the ropes. He follows other dogs' social cues and learns a lot from how they are acting. The other dogs in his foster home have helped build his confidence quite a lot. He is a mouthy player, though he is always very gentle with his mouth. Due to this, and his skittish nature, a home with small children would be a bit too overwhelming for him.

Brady is crate trained and house trained. He does not know how to walk on a leash yet, as that is a very overwhelming experience for him still. His foster mom is working on getting him used to walking on a leash, and he is slowly getting better. Because of this, he will need a home with a securely fenced in yard so he can still get exercise while he is learning how to go for walks. Brady is also quite the talker, so an apartment or condo would not be a good fit for him.

Brady is going to need continuing work on building his confidence and teaching him how to be a "normal dog". But he is such a sweet, goofy boy, that if you are willing to put in the extra effort, he will be absolutely worth it in the end! He is the cutest little guy, with the biggest ears ever!

If you think Brady is your doggie soul mate, please apply to meet him at www.newhoperescue.org.
