My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Liara! Doesn’t that sound like a royal diva name? Foster mom thinks it is much too formal for my silly antics! She says I’m not a diva at all, so she mostly just calls me Lia. Funny thing though, when I went for my first checkup at the vets, they were a little concerned about the “junk in my trunk”. Turns out to be just an extra booty layer of fat, so I was the “butt” of all kinds of jokes about other divas like Beyonce, J-Lo, and Kim Kardashian! I’m not fat at all, so I didn’t mind their poking fun at me, and it’s good to know I don’t have anything wrong back there!
So far, EVERYONE who has met me has fallen in love with me! How’s that for a royal diva? I run right up to people and lean against them for pets and scratches. I don’t even hesitate to give them a little kiss on the hand or cheek! I talk and make funny grunts and groans when I’m sleeping or stretching, which makes foster mom laugh. I want to meet every dog I see, and I love it when I get the chance to run and play with them! If they start to play too rough though, I will let out a big AROOOOO right in their face to let them know to back off a little. So far it’s worked every time!
There are a couple things you need to know about me. I was a pretty sick little girl when I was first rescued. I have been treated for parasites, allergies and severe ear infections, and because my ear canals are so closed up, they will have to be watched, and possibly treated, for the rest of my life. At the very least, you would need to do weekly cleanings. Foster mom has put lots of medicines in my ears, and I really don’t like it! I run to my crate and try to hide when I see her coming with the ear drops! They feel better though, and I’m not shaking my head constantly like I used to, so I guess it’s worth it. I also tested positive for Lyme disease (a tick borne illness), and even though I don’t have any symptoms, I was given preventative treatment for it. It’s just likely that it will always show up positive in tests, so you need to know. The other thing you need to know is that I’m still working on housetraining. I do fine when someone is home, and never potty in my crate, but I haven’t figured out how to show Mom that I need to go, so she has to watch me carefully and take me out if I start circling around for a spot. She thinks that all the pills, drops, and medical issues I’ve had have slowed me down in the training department. Can you blame me?
Other than that, I am the cutest, best, most adorable little diva you could ever hope to meet! Several people who have met me asked my foster mom how I could even be a rescue, because I am way too cute for someone to give up! I do fine in my crate, do great in the car and on a leash, and I am on the medium energy, quiet side. I’ve been very curious about a couple of cats I have met, but it’s not like I tried to eat them or anything! Sheesh! I’m not aggressive, but I am a food thief, and will check out your kitchen table, counters, cupboards, and trash cans for anything tasty left around! I mind my foster mom really well though, and if she says “Sit!” or “No!”, I stop.
I would love to find my forever home and my forever family soon! If you think that could be you, please contact Midwest BREW! I’ll be waiting!
