My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rufus is a drop dead gorgeous flat coated retriever mix. He is 1 year old and weighs 35 - 40 lbs. He is the perfect size and he could not be more beautiful inside and out. He is a sweet, loving, playful dog that loves to go for car rides.

The first thing you notice about Rufus is his eyes! The way he looks at you melts your heart. Rufus is looking for a home that is filled with love. He does the funniest things that just make you belly laugh. He loves attention and to run and play! He loves other dogs, is smart, loyal, happy, VERY friendly and ready to share his life with you! We would love for Rufus to go to a home that enjoys hiking, camping, boating or other outdoor activities.

If you are interested in giving Rufus wonderful home, go to our Facebook page and download the application from the "Notes" section. While you are there, please "Like" our page to see our new available dogs and keep up with upcoming events.

You can also email us at merceranimalrescue@gmail.com and we will email an application to you. Feel free to call Beverly with questions about the dogs at 901-651-6322 and Angela with questions about our adoption process at 203-909-8861.

Rufus' adoption donation is $495 which helps to cover the neutering, micro-chipping, shots, bordetella (kennel cough), vet examination, certificate of health and transport fee. Rufus is living with a foster family in Tennessee and will travel to his new family by professional pet transport once he has been adopted. We use a weekly transport to the northeast and a twice monthly transport to the Chicago / Milwaukee areas.

Our primary source of funding comes from this adoption donation. This donation allows us to rescue other dogs in danger of being put to sleep, injured or sick dogs and dogs that have never known the comfort of a home.
