Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Estimated Date of Birth: 4/30/2014
Sassafras and her sister Saffron were owner surrenders at one of the local smaller shelters. The best guess is, they had a cat that was not fixed and had kittens. They tried to find a home for them and when they couldn't, surrendered them to a shelter. Both girls are absolutely stunning and super sweet. Sassafras has the most adorable squeaky meow. She is a pretty calm for a kitten, but still likes to play with feather toys. She is medium haired, so she will require occasional brushing.
NOTE: Sassafras is FIV positive, but don't let this scare you! Sassafras is
young and perfectly healthy, except that she carries this virus. FIV is Feline
Immunodeficiency Virus. Cats can live long, healthy lives with FIV. FIV is
transmitted to other cats via bites (must be transmitted through blood) or
reproduction and is not transferred via litterboxes or food bowls. The virus
only lives outside the cat for 2-3 hours so it is not extremely contagious to
other cats in nonaggressive households. FIV is ABSOLUTELY NOT transmittable to
humans and dogs. Sassafras needs no special care. Many people have FIV positive
cats and do not know it, as it is asymptomatic and without a blood test, it
cannot be diagnosed.
