My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mona is a beautiful 5 year old, chocolate and white great Dane. She weighs about 125 pounds and was rescued when she was 10 months old from a bad breeding situation. She was extremely skinny and riddled with heart worms, among other medical ailments. Mona stayed strong through her heartworm treatment, and has very slowly learned how to be a dog.

Since she was pretty much feral during her crucial early months of growth, Mona will need a patient and knowledgeable family, preferably with at least one other dog.

She loves any and all creatures (in a very curious naive way), but is more cautious and timid around people, especially men. But this gentle giant enjoys a good 'pat' and being rubbed once she has gained your trust.

She is a very sweet girl, and a huge couch potato, but does require a fenced in yard for adoption as she is a flight risk and spooks easily. Though she loves to lounge, she also loves to run and play with other dogs, and walks perfectly on a leash!

Mona has never had an accident in the house, despite never having lived in one, but is accustomed to having a doggie door with access to the yard. She has lived with a changing pack of four to five other dogs (big and small) for the past four years of her life but has not integrated well due to some bullying from her dominant 'sister'.

Mona will not fight back or defend herself, even though she is the larger of the two, and has been enduring these progressively more serious attacks.

Mona is seeking a home where she can feel relaxed so she can continue to learn about the world without being picked on. She is up to date on all her shots, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $150.
