My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey guys, I'm Wendy and I'm a special girl. I've cheated fate twice and still come through the fire with very few burns. Call it lucky if you will, but I call it blessed. I came into rescue as a seizure during a hoarding case. The Department of Children's Services came into my home and ordered my original mom to get rid of my entire family or they were going to take my human brother away. She didn't know what to do with us and I was almost euthanized until a great lady stepped in and organized our removal by several rescues. I was then adopted by a lady that loved me a lot but her husnand was abusive and would take out his anger on me. For my safety, my new mom sent me back to the rescue I came from and I've been waiting for my new family here in foster care for over a year. A lot of people have thought I was damaged because I'm a little shy. I've been through a lot and I don't trust people right away. I need a patient family that's going to give me a chance to come out of my shell and show them the amazing dog that hides deep down. Mr. Nathan and Ms. Bridget (my caretakers here at Beyond Bars) know how wonderful I am and they've taught me to enjoy human company and to run and play and even walk on a leash. I like laying in the bed of the truck with Nathan and watching the birds fly over and I really love sitting on the couch and enjoying a chewie with my humans. I'm a laid back dog that doesn't mess stuff up in the house and once I get used to you I'm very social. If you think your house would be a great fit for me and you're looking for a dog that REALLY needs the difference that you'll make in their life... then I'm her. I know I'm not perfect because of the things that I've been through but my foster parents tell me I'm special and that I still deserve the best. They say I'm not broken and that I'm strong and a survivor. If you think so too then shoot them an email and tell them so! I'm located in Tn but my rescuers adopt out nationwide.
