Roni's Story...
**Update: Roni's DNA test results are in and (drum roll) she is an English Setter, American Water Spaniel, Shetland Sheepdog Chow mix. One one side - she's as mixed as they come (one Great grandparent was an English Setter, other 3 were mixes). On the other side, Great grandparents were an American Water Spaniel, Chow Chow, Shetland Sheepdog (from a UK show line) and mutt. So there you have it....she's a mix and it's official. Her projected weight is between 45-60 lbs.

Please meet Roni, an adorable and sweet 8 month old corgi/lab mix. We were made aware of Roni when we were at the vet - her story is the perfect example of the good in dog lovers and we really want to help her find her forever home.

Roni was being surrendered to the shelter when a Good Samaritan, we will call Mrs. G, saw her. Mrs G knew that the shelter here in memphis has a kill rate of about 70% and she just could not bare that thought, so she did a good old fashion interception and took Roni home.

Here is info about Roni, as written by Mrs. G: "Roni Rue is an approximately 8 month old mixed breed which appears to be mostly Corgi but with double long legs.
Weight was 27 when last weighted maybe 30 now and not expected to reach over 35lbs. She has had all her shots, been spayed, had 6 month heart worm shot, been micro chipped, and DNA run, the results of which are due soon.

I am giving her up only because having a puppy in your 70s is not the same as a puppy at 50. She needs someone to play with her, to train her, and spend the time with her that I am not able to do.

Roni Rue is a sweet animal, best natured and tempered as probably any dog I have seen. If someone comes to the door she will bark but is loving to all who enter including other dogs. She has never growled or bared teeth for any reason. Food /objects easily removed from mouth. If she wishes you not remove she hides under bed!!

This is a very difficult choice for me to make yet it is best for Roni and for me as I have had recent health problems.

All I ask is that you love her and do not be harsh with her, she is a good girl and just wants to please."

How could we not help Roni find a happy ending? If only more people were as good and loving as Mrs. G.

Roni's adoption fee is $350 and will include all of her vetting (her vet records will be provided along with her DNA results once in), health certificate, and transport cost from Memphis to you. Please email wilsonanimalrescue@yahoo.com for an application for Roni.
