Poppy's Story...
My name is Poppy. My best friend (Pickles) and I were surrendered to CaliCan, but do not need to be adopted together - We are completely fine being separated! I am a 1-year old, "mini" sheltie. I'm pretty small! The pictures are deceiving! I'm 15 lbs!

My foster mom describes me as "beautiful, gentle, intelligent and playful." I tolerate baths, the hair dryer, teeth and ear checks. I get along with kids, small and large dogs, cats! I have a great snuggly personality. If you have a lap or chest available, I will be curled up there!

I need a family who will help me build my confidence as I am pretty shy. I do well with car rides, good off leash (once I trust you enough to come back of course), and I am hoping you are looking for a cute dog like me!

My adoption fee is $280, which covers my spay, dental work, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and vet visits.

For more information, please email CaliCan Rescue (calicanrescue@gmail.com) to set up a phone interview!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Poppy, a Edmonton Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Edmonton, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Edmonton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Edmonton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Edmonton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Edmonton paves the way for another one to be saved.
